Original: 50 Cent featuring Olivia – Candy Shop
album (2005): The Massacre
Lyrics to 2005′s The Candy Shop:
[Intro: 50 Cent]
Yeah…
Uh huh
So seductive
[Chorus: 50 Cent & Olivia]
[50 Cent]
I take you to the candy shop
I’ll let you lick the lollipop
Go ‘head girl, don’t you stop
Keep goin ’til you hit the spot (whoa)
[Olivia]
I’ll take you to the candy shop
Boy one taste of what I got
I’ll have you spending all you got
Keep going ’til you hit the spot (whoa)
[Verse 1: 50 Cent]
You can have it your way, how do you want it
You gon’ back that thing up or should i push up on it
temperature rising okay lets go to the next level
Dance floor jam packed, hot as a teakettle
I’ll break it down for you now, baby it’s simple
if youll be a nympho, ill be a nympho
On the beach or in the park, it’s whatever you into
Got the magic stick, I’m the love doctor
Have your friends teasin you ’bout how sprung I gotcha
Wanna show me how you work it baby, no problem
Get on top then get to bouncing round like a low rider
I’m a seasoned fit when it come to this shit
After you work up a sweat you can play with the stick
I’m tryin to explain baby the best way I can
I melt in your mouth girl, not in your hands (ha ha)
[Chorus]
[Bridge: 50 Cent & Olivia]
Girl what we do (what we do)
And where we do (and where we do)
The things we do (things we do)
Are just between me and you (oh yeah)
[Verse 2: 50 Cent]
Give it to me baby, nice and slow
Climb on top, ride like you in the rodeo
You ain’t never heard a sound like this before
Cause I ain’t never put it down like this
Soon as I come through the door she get to pullin on my zipper
It’s like it’s a race who can get undressed quicker
Isn’t it ironic how erotic it is to watch em in thongs
Had me thinking ’bout that ass after I’m gone
I touch the right spot at the right time
Lights on or lights off, she like it from behind
So seductive, you should see the way she winds
Her hips in slow-mo on the floor when we grind
As Long as she ain’t stoppin, homie I aint stoppin
Drippin wet with sweat man its on and popping
All my champagne campaign, bottle after bottle its on
And we gon’ sip til every bubble in the bottle is gone
[Chorus 2x]
[Chorus: 50 Cent & Olivia]
[50 Cent]
I take you to the candy shop
I’ll let you lick the lollypop
Go ‘head girl, don’t you stop
Keep goin ’til you hit the spot (whoa)
[Olivia]
I’ll take you to the candy shop
Boy one taste of what I got
I’ll have you spending all you got
Keep going ’til you hit the spot (whoa)

William asks…
Madonna forgets lyrics to candy shop?
Has anybody noticed Madonna has been forgetting the lyrics to “Candy Shop” while performing it on “The Sticky & Sweet Tour”?
Here is the first Video, She is CORRECT on this video,
“Chocolate kisses so good you’ll be begging for more, Don’t pretend your not hungry there’s plenty to eat, come on into my store cuz my sugar is sweet.”
Video 1 (correct) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=refLyvszcWE&feature=related
Here is Video 2, In this video she mistakes the lyrics for the ones earlier in the song.
“Chocolate kisses so good you’ll be begging for more, don’t pretend your not hungry IVE SEEN IT BEFORE (incorrect) , come on into my store cuz my sugar is sweet”
Video 2 (INCORRECT): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NxraJtqo2E&feature=related
Here is Video 3, In this video she starts saying the correct lyrics then in the middle she says the incorrect ones at the same time, she says “Chocolate kisses so good you’ll be begging for more, don’t pretend your not I’VE SEEN IT TO EAT” (yes, she says I’ve seen it to eat, lol. Then she notices her mistake and skips a whole line on lyrics!) “.. I’ve seen it to eat, – - – - – - – - – - Cuz my sugar is sweet”
Video 3 (TOTALLY Incorrect): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7Cf8tid6AY&feature=related
I do understand how you can get mixed up in this song, but reguardless of her mistakes she can sure put on a hell of a show, It’s a spectacular! GO MADONNA!

Anyone know this song with the lyrics “take me to your candy shop”?
I’m not sure is that’s exactly what she says (its by a female and male singer). I know its not 50-cent’s song “Candy Shop” cuz i already looked it up and it wasnt the same song i has heard. i think the chorus is a guy and then the girl says something like “take me to your candy shop“. if anyone knows of this song or a simialr song please answer!

Susie answers:
Jupitar Rising-Electropop
Hey girl what’s your name
L-u-v i see your game
It’s okay i do it too
Make me want to play with you
Here boy sign the line
Fools like you don’t waste my time
I ain’t game to play with you
Are you gonna follow through
Step inside we’ll take a ride
Bonnie Clyde you and I
We can do this do or die
Why dont we just take a drive
See I’m gangsta I’m gangsta
We’ll play the damn prankster
Using up this bar we play
Then we make our getaway
Electropop hot
An addiction when I cant stop
I may be your sweet spot
Take me to your candy shop
Electropop hotter
Friction when its getting hot
I’m feeling like its getting hot
Come on baby what you got
Electropop hot
An addiction when I cant stop
I may be your sweet spot
Take me to your candy shop
Electropop hotter
Friction when its getting hot
I’m feeling like its getting hot
Come on baby what you got
Damn girl we’re moving fast
Its a movie who’s the cast
I can be your leading role
Wont you let me take control
Like Juliet I’m femme fatal
Take your pick I’ll play them all
Each one can satisfy depending on the type of guy
I’m just a ????
Put me in your spotlight
I can talk this all night long
Only if we take it home
Oh man thats not what I’m about
Men like that I’m backing out
That is how I strategize
So hold your breath and listen right
Electropop hot
An addiction when I cant stop
I may be your sweet spot
Take me to your candy shop
Electropop hotter
Friction when its getting hot
I’m feeling like its getting hot
Come on baby what you got
Electropop hot
An addiction its hot
I may be your sweet spot
Take me to your candy shop
Electropop
Friction hot
Im feeling like its getting hot
Come on baby what you got
Don’t want to spend this night alone
Cause your just what I need
I’ll lock your digits on my phone
For as much as I tease
I know this affection may be temporary but
Nightlike behavior it is necesary
Look for tonight yes we’re doing it right
But you got my number if you like what you like
Electropop hot
An addiction when I cant stop
I may be your sweet spot
Take me to your candy shop
Electropop hot
Friction when its getting hot
Im feeling like its getting hot
Come on baby what you got
Electropop hot
An addiction I cant stop
I may be your sweet spot
Take me to your candy shop
Electropop
Friction its getting hot
I’m feeling like its getting hot

Chris asks…
Question about dieting and fitness?
So I joined a new website that helps me track calories and I’ve been drinking 64oz or more of water a day. Besides working out, cause I’m going to start that soon, is there anything else I can do to help me eat right and stay motivated, and are there any good low calorie or low fat snacks I can take to work with me so I don’t munch on office garbage. People are always bringing in sweets and candy and its so hard to look at it and not eat it.

Susie answers:
Congrats on taking control of your health. You’re consuming the perfect amount of water which is essential to weight loss. I’d try to get in the gym ASAP as it will dramatically improve your results and boost your overall esteem when you see the results. To eliminate a sweet tooth bring a piece of fruit (banana, apple, etc.) or if your job has a fridge i’d bring the low sugar jello which only contains 5 calories and is great to cut sugar cravings. Cardio is the second most important factor to weight loss and better health so get on the treadmill in the near future.

Paul asks…
How do I keep myself from snacking out of boredom?
I exercise and eat right for the most part. I’ve always struggled to maintain a healthy level of fitness but have been able to do it. I’m building a house which should be finished in a couple of months. To save some money, I’m living with family since my house sold before my new one is done and I don’t want to rent for a few months and then break a lease. THIS HOUSE IF FULL OF SWEETS. Normally, I don’t buy sweets and candy b/c I know it’s my weakness but they are all around me. I literally cannot go to one room without passing a bowl of treats. I’ve tried putting them out of sight but they seem to find their way back. It’s not my house so I can’t complain. Any suggestions on keeping my mind off of the bowl of goodies around every corner? It’s only hard on the weekends when I’m actually here the most.

Susie answers:
Go out and buy yourself some healthy treats and when you get the temptation to indulge in the candies, eat those instead. Get some baby carrots, celery with natural peanut butter, etc. You know, if you have a sweet tooth, like me, just buy yourself some chocolate that contains more than 70% cocoa. It has natural antioxidants which are actually good for you. Just eat a square or two of that every couple of days.
Good luck

Joseph asks…
Halloween is coming up… how much CANDY do you plan on eating? A lot, a little, or none?(:?
I think I’ll have a little.. but I’m gonna try really hard not to go overboard.
Whatta ’bout you?(:
Oh, and this is a completely different question, but;
If you’re anyywhere near 5’3″ and 120 pounds and want to lose some weight..
let’s be diet/fitness buddies?:D haha.
Message me if you’re willing!
–Thanks!

Susie answers:
I’m 5’5 and 135 pounds
lets be diet buddies!

George asks…
Does this sound like a healthy everyday diet and fitness routine?
I am of a healthy weight. I’m in my teenage years and go to school from 7:30-2:30 usually. I’m just curious to see how unbiased people rate my diet and fitness habits, and I also want to make sure I’m staying on the right track to maintain a healthy weight.
Diet:
A BIG HEARTY Breakfast (6:00 A.M.)
ex.
eggs, toast, orange juice, tuna fish
or
bran cereal, 2% milk, fruits, cottage cheese, honey
Lunch(10:30) (Usually I’m not really hungry for lunch at such an early hour, so its hard for me to put food in my mouth when I don’t feel like it.)
ex. a fruit like an apple or a vegetable like a few sticks of celery
Dinner (4:00 P.M.)
ex.
smoked salmon
rice
sweet potato
salad(cabbage, carrot, celery with lemon juice)
water or juice
Fitness:
30 min-60 min jog about 2-3 hours after my dinner about 5 days a week
Yoga and Pilates for 20 minutes after my jog
I then go to sleep at around 9:00 and start all over again the next morning.
This has been my routine for about half a year. I try to treat my body well, and I stay away from cakes/cookies/candies and stay active. I do feel mostly healthy, but I’m confused for a few reasons:
1) I’m constipated. I used to make regular bowel movements at least 2 times daily, but now I’m lucky if I can go 1 time every 3 days.
2) I haven’t had my period for two months. I used to have really heavy flows, but for the past 2 months, I’ve missed my period. I might have started again, but it’s extremely light.
I’m just curious for some input. Thank you all!

Susie answers:
I like the idea of a hearty breakfast, and I like the idea that dinner is at 4:00 PM and that is the last time you eat in the day. Of course, your specific meal items must alternate some, otherwise, you get bored of the diet real quick. Not being hungry at lunch is likely the biggest issue I have with your diet, as it should be a more robust meal to take care of the afternoon surge and lighten up on dinner. You need more fiber in your diet to offset the constipation. Change out the eggs once in awhile with Fiber One or some similar fiber intense cereal. As for the change in period flow, it is hard to say if the diet is a direct link to that, so you likely should check with your doctor and see what s/he thinks about your diet and period fluctuation. Good luck.

David asks…
Depression and fitness/exercise?
I suffer from depression so motivation is really hard to come by. My weight has spun out of control and I gained maybe 5 lbs over break so now I’m 169. I’ve felt upset and tell myself I need to stop but it doesn’t last more than an hour, then I go for candy. Now I feel disgusted with myself but I’m sure this won’t last long either. My point is how do I get myself to loose weight but small things I can work on so I don’t just give up?
By the way I’m 16 going on 17 and about 5’4 1/2”

Susie answers:
The best thing you can do is do everything in moderation. Try not to say I wont have any candy or ice cream ever again because we all know thats just not how its going to be. Instead, consider trying to eat less bad things and more healthy things. Try to eat fruits when you want something sweet most of the time and try eating vegetables instead of chips when you want something crunchy.
As for exercise. The best way to ensure youre going to get it is to set up a regular time with a friend or two where you are supposed to meet them there to work out. This is good for several reasons: 1 you have made an obligation to someone else. 2 you have someone to hold you accountable and 3 its not quite so much like working out as hanging out so its fun! Yah! <-im a nerd
anyway those are my simple tips.
Oh and dont drink lots of sweetened beverages! Drink lots of water instead.

Mandy asks…
How many calories in mexican caramel peanuts?
I cant seem to find the calorie content of mexican candied peanuts. They have a reddish tint and I believe they are caramelized. My friend who is Mexican said they are called ‘garapinados’ They are delicious but I feel super guilty for eating 1 whole cup of them. Can anyone tell me the calorie content?

Susie answers:
It should be on the nutritional panl on the package.

Daniel asks…

how many calories a re in it?

Susie answers:
Love that candy… It used to be one of my favorites… As far as i remember it has around 280 kkal in 100 g (but i haven’t eaten them in month…

Maria asks…
What food do you think has the most calories?
I Think a deep-fried 3 layered cake with 5 layers of frosting, syrup, sprinkles, cookie crumbs, sugar flowers, candy, chocolate drizzle, caramel syrup, strawberry syrup, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, vanilla chips, ice cream, pudding, jello, and any other type of sugary thing I said, topped with some whipped cream. YUCKIE!!!

Susie answers:
Is that all together??

Carol asks…
I feel horrible! I just ate around 3000 calories…?
My dad wont change his eating habits. He leaves out caramel candy, cheese puffs, chocolate cookies… out in the open. and then for breakfast, he cooks sausage and tons of oily, unhealthy food.
I’m an expert on metabolism, calories… foods, etc. I’ve been self conscious of my weight for about two years… I’m not obese; I’d say I’m normal? 125lbs, 5’4… I always run 2 miles for 5 days/week.
But today is saturday and this morning my parents werent at home, so i was alone and i started eating a bunch of the food my dad left out on the table, nonstop!
i took one chocolate cookie, then i was like, okay, thats all im going to take and no more.. but i ended up eating like 5.. and then moving on to other foods.. ahhh!
im just really depressed that i ate all that food; its double the amount of food i need in a day and i still have lunch and dinner to eat food… im not going to skip meals because itll screw up my metabolism and my parents would think im turning anorexic.. im also going to a party later on so i have to eat stuff because its traditional to eat together at a large table.
i also ate around 2000 extra calories last night…
basically i just need some comforting… )=

Susie answers:
Oh thats okay=( i do that all the time and feel terrible. But running also really helps me feel better, too, so maybe go hop outside and take a jog=)lol i’m sure you’ll be fine – you have to eat 3000 EXTRA calories to just gain 1 lb, so your cool.

Steven asks…
Why is candy bad for you?
I’m curious of the negative effects that candy can have on my body, other than the extra calories from eatting junk food. If you can be addicted to candy than I’d be the poster child. I don’t think that I can go more than a day without eatting skittles, starburst, smarties, caramel, sweettarts, twix, or thousandgrand. Its not really the chocolet, but the sugar that I think I crave. Everyone tells me that I’d loose so much weight if I’d cut back on candy by 1/3 or drink a little less soda. And I know that they are right because I have really good portion sizes and I eat well balanced meals. But my weight isn’t enough to make me give up candy and no one can give me a really good reason. So, if someone can help me understand why I should give up candy than I’d be happy. I can give up soda for a month and I have. After not drinking it for a month it was really gross. But I cant seam to give up candy. Please help me.
i’ve never had a cavity. candy doesn’t seem to cause them. and neither does brushing your teeth because i only brush twice a day and i always forget to floss. my best friend brushes after eatting anything and flosses three times a day. she gets a cavity everytime she goes to the dentist.
yeah, i can understand that store bought and fast food is really high in sugar and salt. i have to eat home made foods because that stuff upsets my tummy. yuck! a fast food hamburger. yuck! a tv dinner. if i want chicken strips than i have to cut the chicken up, add the spices, flour, and fry or bake. i eat a lot of fresh veggies and fruit and chicken. i dont really like processed food or red meat.
i really didnt think of the diabetic thing. my grams is diabetic.

Susie answers:
Well, you are the living embodiment of the main issue with candy: weight gain. If you consume too much sugar, then it can lead to type 2 diabetes- which not only means that you have to kiss candy goodbye, but also have to prick your finger open for the rest of your life.
And also, addiction is another issue- it looks like you are already addicted to sugar.
You’re “well-balanced means” are not going to make you healthy, because your excess sugar intake is upsetting that balance.
Of course, no one can really cut candy off ccompletely, but you can cut back. And if weight gain is not a good enough motivation for you to cut sugar, then i’ll guess you’ll continue on until you develop some other major issues.
Toodles~

Jenny asks…
Retro candy?
What was your favorite retro candy? Mine was Astro Pop and Lick n Dip.
Remember then they turned the Astro Pop around so it was backwards on the stick?

Susie answers:
Bottlecaps, especially the rootbeer and cola flavored ones!

David asks…
Is there money in selling retro candy?
I was wondering what is the mark up on candy? I would like to open a store in my area that sells retro candy.

Susie answers:
The mark-up is high. Almost 50% for many candies. But the selling prices are low. That is why candy sellers are always hoping to move up to expensive chocolates or candy “bouquets” that can sell for high prices.
Necco Wafers from the 1950′s is making a comeback. They are introducing new flavors and using better flavoring for their signature candy.
There is not much money in selling candy, but you might hit the perfect time and get lucky.

George asks…
Im trying to find this old retro candy in TO?
It comes in this toothpaste tube and when you chew it it turns into bubble gum? Are there any candy stores that still sell them in downtown TO? PLEASE and thank youuu!

Susie answers:
Don’t recall the candy, but you could try two of the vendors at St Lawrence Market – Domino’s Foods and Arent We Sweet. Check their sites and call them. Also Sweet Temptations at 130 King.

Nancy asks…
I’m looking for retro candy. I need the name of the gum, it was orange juice gum that came in an o.j container
I’m trying to locate it and buy some. This was my favorite gum growing up.

Susie answers:
I remember that candy…. Cant think of the name either!
Maybe one of these websites will help you.
Good luck!

Donna asks…
where can i get a Adidas Originals Liverpool Candy Red Retro Tracksuit Top?

Susie answers:
Look for it on adidas’ website: www.shopadidas.com

Joseph asks…
How does sugar free candy affect your health and weight loss?
Although sugar free candy is a healthier alternative than regular candy, can eating a few pieces a day be bad for your health? If consumed in moderate portions can it slow your weight loss progression?

Susie answers:
No!

Susan asks…
what are some good kinds of sugar-free candy to get for halloween?
Halloween is coming up soon, what are some healthier, or artificially sweetened candies I can buy instead of the usual sugar loaded ones? Are any of the popular candy brands going to come out with sugar free candy for the holiday?

Susie answers:
There are really none.

Laura asks…
Why does sugar free candy do this to me?
If I have a few pieces of sugar free candy my stomach starts to bubble for hours. Last time it gave me diarhia. What the hell?
Why is it that when I drink diet soda or use sweet n low it has no effect on me. I mean, I just ate three lifesavers and my tummy is going nuts.

Susie answers:
There is a chemical in Sugar free candy that will give you diarrhea.
When consumed in moderation, sugar alcohols should not cause any digestive side effects. However, some people are more sensitive and may experience some side effects at lower levels. One of the reasons that sugar alcohols are lower in calories and carbohydrates compared to sugar is that they are digested and absorbed in a different way. Sugar is digested in the small intestine by enzymes, however most sugar alcohols are digested in the large intestine by normally occurring bacteria. In the process of digesting sugar alcohols, some digestive side effects can occur, including flatulence (gas), colic, and diarrhea. Severity of the side effects will vary based on the individual, and the amount of product that is eaten. These side effects are generally similar for all sugar alcohols. Due to the presence of sugar alcohols in our products, we have included a warning statement on the package indicating that individuals sensitive to sugar substitutes may experience a laxative effect.

Maria asks…
What’s a good sugar free candy to melt into a hard glaze for fruit?
I remember eating a candy apple with red hots melted in the coating. It was really good, but not sugar free of course.

Susie answers:
Since sugar free candy has chemicals that sugary candy does not have, heating it may cause it to taste funny–or even foul.
Check with a cookbook. One with recipes for diabetics should be able to give you some ideas.

Lizzie asks…
Why does eating to much sugar free candy give you diareah?
I love candy! I ate a whole bag of sugar free twizlers one time and I had the worst abdominal cramping and diareah in my life. I don’t normally do that but we were having a halo party and lots of diet soda. Does anyone know if the diet soda had anything to do with it?

Susie answers:
Because sugar free stuff sucks and thats what you get for eating stuff that sucks. I dont care if i get diabetes when im 30., i say bring on the texas tea sweetener! Bring on the texas tea as well.

Good luck! : )

Richard asks…
Candy bar card for my boyfriend? I want to make one for valentine’s day?
a candy bar card is something like “You bring so much [Almond Joy] to my life…” that sort of thing. I need cute love quotes, phrases, or a paragraph of how much you love someone, replacing words with candy bar names! I am going to put this on a big poster, and glue the candy to it. This is for my boyfriend of almost 2 years….so any sayings will be appropriate

Susie answers:
You were “mint” for me (you can use any kind of mint-Peppermint Patty, Starlight Mint, Andes Mint…)
You’re a “Lifesaver” (any roll of Lifesavers)
You’re my “hunk” (Big Hunk Candy Bar)
I want to kiss you “Now & Later”
I think you are just “Grand” (100 Grand Bar)
I “Treasure” our love (Nestle Treasures)
Our love is “Red Hot” (Red Hots)
Our love is “Big League” (Big League Chew bubble gum)
I’m running out of ideas but Rocky Road Candy Bar, Kudos, Sugar Daddy, Pop Rocks (i.e. Our love rocks) and Good and Plenty seemed too good to not mention!
Good luck.

Ruth asks…

Thomas asks…

Susie answers:
I’m with you. The licorice, right?
After a mouth full of yummy jelly beans, it ruins it.
Let’s vote to get them out of the mix!
Wanna know anotehr bad one? The gourmet bags have a popcorn flavored one that’s salty. Not a good taste for jelly beans.

Sandra asks…
How did rabbits, eggs, and the hunt for Easter candy get associated with Easter?
Easter is a Christian religious holiday in which we Christians commemorate the Resurrection of Jesus. So how did the Easter Bunny, eggs, and candy become associated with Easter?

Susie answers:
EASTER has always been a Christian holiday in celebration of the resurrection of Christ, however like many Christian holidays, the choice of name and place on the calendar was quite intentional to land around pagan rites and celebrations.
Starting in the ancient lands of Egypt, the Middle East and Europe probably around 3200 BCE, the peoples celebrated the rebirth of life (spring) with celebrations in honor of their goddess Ishtar, the goddess of life and fertility. It was a celebration of renewal for the earth and man. The egg, the chick, the rabbit, the flowers, are all fertility symbols of the ancient world (several of which are still used today in dating practices). Its celebration has often been marked by sexual exuberance, as is still prominent in the pre-Lenten Carneval and Mardi Gras festivals.
Even the name by which Christians still celebrate the festival is a variation of the name of the ancient fertility goddess Ishtar or Ashtoreth (whose name also survives in the name of one of the books of the Old Testament, the only Bible book that contains no reference to God – the Book of Esther).
Because the church could not eradicate the celebration of this popular festival (and many others), they simply chose to place their celebration of Christ’s ressurection at the same time, as a means of demonstrating that they too celebrated the same things, but in a different way. Sort of a marketing and recruiting tool of ancient times.

David asks…
Anyone know the name of a company that makes Pineapple creme easter candy?
Anyone know the name of a company that makes Pineapple creme easter candy? Where can you get it? My mom remembers them coming in little foil packages in a variety of foil colors the flavor title in the center of the package in an oval shape with she thinks tiny bunnies around it. They sold in packages that had a variety of flavors as well. I hope someone knows what my mom is talking about. Best answer gets 10 points!

Susie answers:
Never heard of pinapple flavor but maybe its the cadburry bunny eggs. Maybe they were a special flavor for that year. I’d check out their website.

Steven asks…
Can anyone tell me how to make cream filled long johns like you buy at a bakery? Recipes using Easter candy?
I want to know how to make the cream filled long johns or filled sticks like you buy at a bakery. Also, I have tons of leftover Easter candy and need to know what to do with it. I have peeps and chocolate galore.

Susie answers:
These are a lot of effort – but worth it. Make your pastry cream filling first so that it can thicken and chill. Make the glaze after you have filled the Long Boys.
3 (.25 ounce) envelopes active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup boiling water
1 cup canned evaporated milk
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons salt
8 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 quart oil for frying, or as needed
3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Set aside until bubbly, about 10 minutes. In a large bowl, dissolve shortening in 1 cup of boiling water. Cool to lukewarm.
Mix the evaporated milk, eggs, nutmeg, sugar and salt into the shortening and water. Stir in the yeast mixture and one cup of the flour until well blended. Gradually mix in remaining flour 1 cup at a time until dough is firm enough to remove from the bowl. Knead for about 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface, or until smooth. Let rest for 10 minutes.
Roll the dough out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into strips 1 inch wide and 6 inches long. Place onto waxed paper, and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large heavy skillet to 350 degrees F. Carefully remove the Long Boys from the waxed paper and place a few at a time in the hot oil. Fry for about 3 minutes per side, or until light brown. Set over wire racks to drain. When cooled, fill with pastry cream using your decorator tube and frost with chocolate glaze.
Pastry cream
21/4 cups milk
4 egg yolks
2/3 cups sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup flour
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Boil 2 cups of milk. Beat yolks with sugar and remaining milk. Whisk until smooth. Add cornstarch and flour until combined. Gradually whisk hot milk into egg mixture. Return to saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture boils and thickens.
Reduce to low and stir for 2 minutes longer. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Pour into a shallow disk. Cover with plastic wrap. (Make sure wrap touches surface to prevent a skim from forming.) Cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
Chocolate glaze
2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
3 tablespoons butter
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
Heat chocolate and butter over low heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 cup powdered sugar and 3/4 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in 1 teaspoon hot water at a time until desired consistency (about 2 tablespoons of water is needed).
I don’t think I can help you with the leftover candies. We never have any. I guess you could melt them and use them as toppings. I did find this recipe for leftover candy cake – but I have never tried it.
2 cups coarsely chopped leftover candy*
2 3/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 ounces unsalted butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup sour cream
Optional: Confectioners’ sugar
Preheat oven to 350F. Butter a tube or bundt pan (10-12 cup capacity) and dust with fine bread crumbs. Tap out excess crumbs. Set pan aside. Sift together flour, salt and baking soda; set aside. In large bowl, cream butter until soft, add vanilla, almond extracts and sugar. Mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each one. On low speed, alternate adding dry ingredients with sour cream, scraping bowl as necessary. Place 1 1/2 cups mixture in prepared pan. Add candies to remaining batter, fold in gently. Pour this mixture into pan over plain batter. Bake 1 hour or until tests done. Cool 15 minutes. Cover pan with rack and invert. Remove pan. Let cake cool. Serve plain or with confectioners’ sugar dusted on top.
Note: *This is a great way to use up any holiday’s leftover candy – Halloween treats, Christmas candy canes, Valentine sweets, Easter candy, etc.

Betty asks…
Post Christmas candy discounts?
When do stores usually put their Christmas candy on sale? Is it the day after? WHat stores? Walmart?

Susie answers:
Usually it is the day after, because most stores are closed on Christmas Day.

John asks…
do you think people will buy christmas chocolate after christmas like Month frow christmas?
i have choclates of christmas and i sale candy do u think kids will still buy them they have a snowman on them and there big hershey’s

Susie answers:
I love buying clearance Christmas stuff after Christmas..
Sometimes its decorations, to use for next year. And definitely candy! I mean its not going to taste any different if its shaped like a snowman(: –except i tend to prefer the nutcracker snickers to regular ones so maybe there is a difference. Lol

Maria asks…
What are some of your childhood Christmas memories?
I have a few….
When I was 8 Santa & Mrs. Claus stayed up late drinking on Christmas eve, and wrapped presents, putting my name on my sisters most wanted Chrismas item (a Crayola Caddy)
Another year I got 10 $20 bills in my stocking (to hit the Christmas sales afterwards)
Another year, I bought my sister a really cool, anniversarry special issue of Rolling Stone Magazine. It was pretty thick. I ended up blabbing to her about what it was cuz I was so excited. She was anxious to receive it. But then I ended up keeping it for myself because I liked it so much. She was mad!
ummm lets see, I remember making gingerbread houses with my father and sister.
I remember making hard candy with my mother.
And I remember telling my Uncle that if he didn’t buy me a Scritti Politti tape, (1986) I wouldn’t love him anymore. He bought it for me.
What are some of your Christmas memories, good or bad?

Susie answers:
Sitting in front of the TV with my brother and Mom and Dad watching the”Merry Christmas Charlie Brown”cartoon in my yellow carters pajamas with three chocolate chip and three nutterbutter cookies and a glass of milk(this was about the late 60s and it makes me cry everytime i hear the song”Christmas time is here” from the cartoon,’cause it takes me back to the days when all of us were here(my Dad and My little brother have passed away and I miss them both a lot,but the memories are there, and so is the love)Have a Merry Christmas

Helen asks…
What’s your favorite widely available candy?
There are lots of gourmet candies out there, but what about the kind of stuff that you can get out of a vending machine? What’s your favorite?
I’m really into Rolo right now… got some on discount at the after-Christmas sale.

Susie answers:
Oh Henry!

Charles asks…
How do you feel about the Christmas decorations / stuff today being put up in stores WAY too early?
I’ve just gone for a walk around my local mall and they’ve already strung up all the Christmas decorations and holiday items… in the middle of September! =O
Coincidentally, and almost ironically, I saw it featured in the 6 o’clock news later that night: “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… in September.” It seems that MOST retail outlets and malls are taking advantage of this “Holiday Spending” bonanza… =(
They said it was to augment and help increase the profit for the annual Christmas / Holiday sales.
Personally, I’d be pissed when they do these things so early that it seems ludicrous and out of place… also, if they ever skip Halloween, I would go nuts (Halloween is one of my favourite holidays = candy)!
What’s your opinion on this? Would you do all your holiday shopping now? Does it really save you the money (like they said on the news)?
For all we know… next thing we might see is Christmas in July! =D

Susie answers:
It’s just ridiculous to see that stuff up before Thanksgiving. It’s also disrespectful to Halloween, like they are skipping over one holiday to focus on a more profitable one! That being said, there have been a lot of new reports lately that say retailers are expecting poor Christmas earnings this year due to the economy. This is particularly bad news for certain industries (toys, jewelry) who make most of their yearly earnings in the last part of the year. It’s possible that with the economy in mind, retailers will be trying to make Christmas as early as possible as to lengthen the buying season to compensate for the low earnings that are being predicted.

Steven asks…
divinity recipe…?
I lost my divinity recipe and was hoing that someone could help me out…I’ve looked on the web and have not found one like it. It was light beige in color and not like a meringue like other recipes. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.

Susie answers:
Divinity
INGREDIENTS:
4 cups granulated sugar
1 cup light (not dark) corn syrup
1 cup water
1/4 tsp salt
3 egg whites (room temperature)
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 tsp vanilla
food coloring
PREPARATION:
Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt in heavy saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture starts to boil. Continue cooking until mixture forms soft ball when tested in cold water (or use a themometer).
In the mean time, beat egg whites until stiff. Then pour 1/2 cup of syrup over whites, beating fast all the time.
Continue to cook remaining syrup while beating egg whites, until syrup reaches the light crack stage when dropped in cold water (this will happen quickly). Pour remaining syrup over egg white mixture, beating all the while. Continue beating until candy begins to hold its shape. Stir in vanilla and nuts and food coloring. Drop by teaspoonsful onto waxed paper.
Makes 50-60 pieces.

George asks…
Do you have a good Divinity recipe?
I want to try to make Divinity but I need a good recipe. Please don’t tell me to google it. I would like one from someone who has actually made it. thanks a bunch!

Susie answers:
Divinity
IMPORTANT: Do not even attempt to make Divinity Candy unless the humidity level is less than 50 to 60%. The humidity level will make or break your Divinity Candy.
2 2/3 cups granulated sugar
2/3 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup water*
2 large egg whites, room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2/3 cup broken nuts (of your choice)
* Use 1 tablespoon less water on humid days.
Line a large Cookie Sheet with wax paper. Set aside.
In a large heavy saucepan over low heat, add sugar, corn syrup, and water, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Continue to cook, without stirring, until the temperature reaches 260 degrees F. On your Candy Thermometer or until a small amount of candy mixture dropped into very cold water forms a hard ball. Remove sugar mixture from heat. NOTE: A Candy Thermometer is the most accurate way of testing the temperature of the sugar solution.
In a large bowl using your electric mixer at high speed, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Learn how to Make Perfect Meringue. Continue beating and add the hot sugar mixture to the egg whites in a slow, steady, thin stream until well mixed in. Once you begin to pour the hot sugar mixture, do NOT stop and do not scrape the mixing bowl. When all the syrup has been combined, continue to beat the mixture until it begins to lose its gloss and holds its shape in stiff peaks. This takes about 10 minutes of solid beating.
NOTE: Test the divinity. The first and most important test occurs when you lift the beaters. If the candy falls back in ribbons that immediately merge back into the batter, it isn’t done. Eventually, a stationary column will form between the beaters and the bowl. Candy will lose its sheen/gloss and stop being sticky; a teaspoonful dropped onto wax paper will hold its shape, even a peak. If you machine is laboring and the candy is not quite there yet, you have two choices: Pour anyway and put into a frost free freezer to set up, or finish by hand.
Remove the bowl from the mixer stand and fold in the vanilla extract, nuts and/or optional add-ins of your choice. If the candy becomes too stiff, add a few drops of hot water.
Using two large spoons (using 1 spoon to push the candy off the other spoon), drop spoonfuls of the divinity mixture into mounds onto the waxed paper. Allow to rest undisturbed for two hours, or until the mounds are at room temperature. Carefully peel from the waxed paper and store on layers of waxed paper in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Divinity also freezes exceptionally well for longer storage.
Divinity Candy If you choose to spread the divinity in a pan, you will have to wait up to 24 hours before it is set and ready.
Makes about 4 dozen candies.
Optional Add-Ins:
Traditional Divinity – 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped
Cranberry Divinity – 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped and 1/2 cup dried cranberries, coarsely chopped
Christmas Divinity – 1/2 cup red or green candied cherries, coarsely chopped
Halloween Divinity – 1/2 cup orange gumdrops, coarsely chopped and 5 drops orange food coloring
Valentine Divinity – 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies with 2 drops red food coloring

Mama’s Divinity
Times:Prep10 min Cook 30 min Total: 40 min
Ingredients
* 4 cups sugar
* 1 cup white corn syrup
* 3/4 cup cold water
* 3 egg whites
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla
* 2 cups chopped pecans
Directions
In a heavy saucepan over medium heat, stir together the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir only until sugar has dissolved. Do not stir after this point. Cook syrup mixture until it reaches 250 degrees F on a candy thermometer, bringing it to a hard ball stage.
While the syrup is cooking, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Once the sugar mixture reaches 250 degrees F, carefully pour a slow steady stream of syrup into the stiffly beaten egg whites, beating constantly at high speed. Add the vanilla and continue to beat until mixture holds its shape, approximately 5 minutes. Stir in pecans.
Using 2 spoons, drop the divinity onto waxed paper, using 1 spoon to push the candy off the other. This may take a little practice because the technique is to twirl the pushing spoon, making the candy look like the top of a soft serve ice cream. If the candy becomes too stiff, add a few drops of hot water. You will need to work fast when making this type of candy. After you spoon the cooked sugar and nuts onto the waxed paper, you’re done. Cool the candies on racks completely. You can store them in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

John asks…
What is a quick and easy, but yummy divinity recipe?
It’s my hunnies favorite. I have the day off so I want to make some for him. I saw a recipe on the back of a DIY frosting box, but I’m not sure how good that will taste.
Also, I want to roll the divinty in sweet chocolate/ cinnamon powder. Any good suggestion on what to use for this and name of store where I can get everything pretty please?

Susie answers:
This is an old, old recipe so the directions are a little sketchy but the candy is delicious.
DIVINITY
3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup white karo syrup
2/3 cup water
Boil to hard ball. While it is boiling….
Beat
2 egg whites
1/8 tsp. Salt
Gradually pour syrup mixture over whites, while beating.
Add 1 tsp. Vanilla. Beat until spoonfuls make peak.
Optional… Add nuts.
Use a teaspoon to spoon out the candy pieces on a waxed paper surface.
Work quickly because this candy starts to set up right away. You have less than 5 minutes to get it all dropped. If it does start to stiffen, just pour the remaining candy in a dish and when it cools cut it with a knife in squares.

Lizzie asks…
anybody know a good brown sugar recipe for divinity?
It is not like a merangue. but they were delicious. i’d love to have the recipe.

Susie answers:
Try this one – enjoy!
Brown Sugar Divinity
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash salt
Combine sugars and water in a heavy saucepan. Place over low heat and stir until sugar is dissolved, then stir in corn syrup. Bring mixture to a boil; cover pan and boil gently for 5 minutes. Uncover and cook without stirring to 252 degrees F (hard ball stage).
While syrup is cooking, in a large mixing bowl, beat egg whites and salt to stiff peaks.
As soon as the syrup reaches hard ball stage pour it in a steady stream into egg whites, beating constantly with an electric mixer at high speed. Continue beating until the mixture begins to lose its gloss and it is stiff enough to hold its shape when dropped. Quickly stir in vanilla extract. Drop by teaspoonsful onto wax paper. Cool completely, and store in a covered container.

Sandra asks…
I need help making Peanut Butter Balls!?
Hi! I know how to make them because I have the cook book but I don’t have the chocolate flavored candy coating… I got a large dark-chocolate fudge bar but I’m not sure if that even works. Does it? Can someone help me and answer this question if the dark chocolate bar made from cocoa butter works? Thanks! And by the way… If it doesn’t work for peanut butter balls, where do you get the almond bark or chocolate flavored candy coating? I checked at Trader Joes but they didn’t have it… And I’m not sure about Safeway… Can one of you guys help? Thanks!

Susie answers:
Try melting the chocolate in the microwave, but not for too long…it burns fast!
It should work, becasue chocolate chips work! Good Luck!

Donna asks…
Things that make you go…hm?
If M&M’s are candy coated chocolate, then why do the characters on the package have white arms and legs? Shouldnt that green M&M chicka on the package of a package of dark chocolate M&M’s have dark chocolate arms and legs? Or candy coated green arms and legs.
This question is for entertainment purposes only..I just think its ridiculous.
hey…good times.

Susie answers:
If that makes you think, then try this:
why is the Michelin tire man white? Haven’t seen an all white tire yet.
Or the Pillsbury dough boy, if you bake all things to a golden brown, should he not be that way also, lol. JD have a star

Paul asks…
If you could design a candy bar, what ingredients would you use?
Me, layer of dark chocolate, layer of chopped hazlenuts, layer of dark chocolate, layer of coconuts, layer of dark chocolate, layer of caramel, coated in dark chocolate and sprinkled with chopped hazlenuts.

Susie answers:
The stuff I like would be yucky together but, here goes:
Coconut & dark chocolate in the middle, a layer of almonds, then peanuts covered in caramel, then layers of rasberries, and strawberries covered in milk chocolate.

Jenny asks…
Discontinued candy’s name?
The were in a box the size of the Gobstopers box.
The box was dark purple, and had pictures of Jetson-stye aliens on it.
The candies almost like Malteezers but smaller and made out of something different. And I think they had an m&m-like coating over the chocolate.
MY SISTER REMEMBERED!
ASTROS~!

Susie answers:
I can see the box right in front of me but can’t remember the name of them =(
The link below has the names of all/most discontinued items, Maybe seeing it will refresh your memory =)

Betty asks…
What do you this about this chapter so far?
Chapter 1:
I saw him checking me out, I bet he wished his girlfriend was hot like me. I had to admit I was looking super hot today and I felt loads of eyes on me. Who could blame them, I was eye candy at it’s finest. 5ft 11 inches of sheer perfection, caramel coated skin, chocolate eyes, juicy lips and a cute button nose. I swear down if I was edible I wouldn’t be standing here right now. I wasn’t that curvy but my looks more than made up for that. I smiled at the sexy thing as he licked his lips in admiration. He approached me and his swagger was on point. He walked like the high street was his runway. “Hello I was watching you from afar and I had to get a closer look. And see if you are as fine as you look from afar” he said in a deep monotone voice. I giggled and smiled “And?”. “I wouldn’t be standing here if it you didn’t live up to my expectations. I bet your names as pretty as you are” he replied. “My names ni..I mean Neena” I blurted out. I can’t believe I didn’t use my false name. Whoa not a lot of boys have had that effect on me. “Right right so can we exchange numbers please. You see how nicely I asked you” he smiled. I smiled he was around 6 2, medium brown complexion, pearly whites, darks eyes with cornrows in his head. He looked a little like trey songs but taller and bigger. We exchanged numbers and hugged then he left. I known that i would be seeing him very soon, probably sooner than I expected. 30 minutes later I was at my friends Monica’s house, we have been friends for 10 years of my life. I wish it could have been for the whole 17 years of my life, but oh well. Monica was beautiful inside and outside, the kind of person would could make hitler smile. “Mo, he was over sexy it was like I surrendered myself to him without a fight or struggle. I just gave him my name and number just like that” I said as I stuffed a hot wing in my mouth. “euhhh he must have been special. Because I know after all them waste of sperms you have dated, you have put your heart on lock and key. You are so hostile and protective when boys approach you, but I don’t blame you love” Monica stated . “Yeah I know but I can’t guard my heart for ever, and I can’t judge all men by the same standards. That’s just stupid of me, I don’t want to a man pay for the last man mistakes. I think I will give(I look my phone to find his name) Levi a chance he seems nice.” I laughed. Monica smiled and said “why not just keep your guard close by, because you never know when you might need it”. “ummm” I replied as I pondered over her deep words.
I am not sure where to take this story or if i should complete this.
honest thoughts and no unnecessary comments.

Susie answers:
I don’t quite get the point of this piece as it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. The character is so vain it is almost sickening I mean – “five feet eleven inches of sheer perfection?” The fact that she thinks like that proves she is nowhere near perfection. You certainly have the makings of a story there if you build on the character but I would suggest that you print it off and read it out loud or get someone to read it to you and you will hear what you have written. If it sounds right then carry on with the writing, if not change what needs to be changed. Always write words instead of numbers e.g. ‘five’ not 5. The only exception to that is the year i.e. 1985. Good luck with your writing and your story.

Ok so Im in 8th Grade and in Sculpture we are making paper mache candy bars and idk wht to do i was going to do the Godiva Bar that was made for Twilight (the book by stephenie meyer) or some other candy.
Which one should i do?

Susie answers:
Godiva Twilight sounds fine but it is sorta visually uninteresting.
You might try to find a brand of candy bar that has a really interesting shape or geometry.

Jenny asks…
Any special gift for kids? is a cotton candy maker machine okey?
hi, i am going to buy a gift for my little cousin, is this cotton candy maker okey?
http://www.thelashop.com/catalog/15-Mini-Home-Kids-Cotton-Candy-Machine-Maker-p-332.html
it looks cute and easy to operate, but as i haven’t used this kind of kits, i wonder if it is worth the price.
any suggestions for me ?

Susie answers:
Sort of a gray area here. The site didn’t recommend an age range for this appliance. And you didn’t mention the age of your cousin. 450 watts is a lot of juice for a kid to play around with. The price seems decent. I would go by what the manufacturer recommends in the manual. I’m guessing anyone 10 or younger shouldn’t handle the machine without adult supervision. Amazon has a better price, and you should read the reviews of the some who purchased cotton candy machines.

Richard asks…
What’s a good Easter gift for kids that isn’t candy or toys?
I have a 5 year old niece & a 3 year old nephew and I have no idea what to get them for Easter.
I’m thinking something smaller, like $10-20 each. They have MORE than enough toys and dolls, and they don’t watch a lot of TV. They like to do crafts with their mom, so if you can recommend some kind of craft kit that would work for those ages, that might work.

Susie answers:
How about some flower, or vegetable seeds, a small pot, a package of soil & a watering can? You can buy them seperately, or they come in kits. Kids love to plant their own flowers, or vegetables & watch them grow, they also learn from it too.

Charles asks…
What do kids like for Easter besides candy?
I’m looking for inexpensive ideas for Easter gifts…for 9 kids… from age 2 to 10… how do I find something equally good for each age while not blowing a ton of money? They aren’t into candy so much… what do I get for a simple little gift. Thought about coloring books…but a 10 yr old is not going to be into that. Looking to not spend more than $20 here… help!

Susie answers:
An egg dying project or a toy Bunny (though whose to say you can’t go wrong with a real one). You can buy any of this at a local dollar store. They’re sure to have what you would need.

Joseph asks…
Christmas ideas/gifts for kids on school buses?
I’m a school bus driver and i would like to give the kids something inexpensive for Christmas, we are not allowed to give them anything like candy, treats or food. So i was thinking something along the lines of home made tree ornaments or something decorative to put in their homes for the holiday.
The kids are 3-12 years of age most of them being 3-5 years of age approximately 50 kids total.
Money is tight so it would have to be cheaper but not look to cheap. So if you have any ideas on what to make or get them please post your thoughts thanks!
I don’t know if any of the children are Jewish?

Susie answers:
It wouldn’t matter if any are Jewish. Money is tight for everyone. I would print out some Christmas cards if you can.

Lisa asks…
My budget is $50-ish each… What are some good Christmas gifts for kids 18 and under in foster care?
Last year, my office worked with a foster care program in our community. We bought gifts for the kids and the families.
The family gifts included:
* a gift certificate to Wal-Mart
* a gift certificate to Blockbuster
* A box of popcorn
* Small boxes of candy
* McDonalds gift certificates
* A board game
* A disposable camera
For the kids, we bought different gifts based on ages:
* Portable CD Player
* Barbies
* Stuffed animals
* Disney toys
* Art supplies
Well, it’s that time of year again, and I need some suggestions. We spend approximately $50 per kid/family, and there will be some attendees from last year. Santa doesn’t want to bring the same gifts again, so he’s trying to come up with some new ideas.
I’d love to hear of good suggestions for these kids… this is largely what they get for Christmas. They are in attendance for the event, but Santa does hand out the presents.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas!!!
Tangible gifts for the kids… the gift certificates are for the family’s to buy clothes or other necessities.
We aren’t giving a kid a gift certificate.
No clothes… too hard to shop for all the sizes.
I hope everyone will mark this as an interesting question. I have already received emails about it!

Susie answers:
18 and under? That is a large catagory, but the $50 budget helps with that. Teens 13-18 years of age might like something more having to do so with electronics than the rest.
The only thing I can think of that is about that price range that I wanted that age period was an MP3, Nintendo 64 (old gaming system, but lots of fun), Atari, and Money. If the kids have a computer, then maybe a nice MP3 would work! There are tons of MP3s at walmart that are in the $25-$40 range and work about just as nice as an iPod. Nintendo 64s are always fun no matter how old they may be (you can use this for children too) The normal systems are anywhere from $20-$40 on ebay and in wonderful condition, and the games are available at almost any pawn shop, and some video stores rent/sell them. Ataris are hard to find now so some may be overpriced, but you could find a good Atari Flashback for about $25-$40 on ebay, the Flashbacks are better because they have all the games already built in. If all else fails, there are always cheap electronics like digital cameras, cds, and tvs at Wal-Mart, and gift cards!
Younger kids 9-12 might like a variaty of things like maybe some of them want to be grown up already and have an MP3 of their own? That’s where the $25-$30 MP3s at walmart come in handy. You can also buy them game systems that are under your $50 budget. A few kids here might want a DS, but who can aford that on a tight budget!? Insteed older versions of gameboys that are priced down now might be just the thing they would like. Legos are always wonderful to have, the smaller ones that is. They’re fun to play with and lots of kids love them. The art supplies is always a good idea, kids like to be creative, so why not let them be for a small price.
Now, the younger ones 5-8 will need something that intrest them and can’t hurt them, because some at this age still don’t understand ‘don’t put that in your mouth’. Also, at this age they want to act all grown up so cuter cheaper version of digital camera would work. Those fake laptops that are for educational or other kinds of gaming are very nice for kids this age. Barbies and Littlest Pet Shops are great ideas for girls. Boys might rather have the MatchBox toys and Action figures. You can always get them play food and a toy cash register and/or cart too!
Ages 2-4 might rather have coloring books, crayons and fisher price toys. Nothing really hard to think about there, and they’ll always love stuffed animals! You can get the even littler ones stuffed animals or toys that make noise.
For families Wal-mart gift cards and digital cameras would be nice. I hope these give you some good ideas for presents, and Merry Christmas to you too! ^-^

Mandy asks…
what russell stover candies have coconut?
I need to know what Russell Stover Candies have coconut in them. My husband bought me a box, but on the back it says coconut and i am allergic to it.

Susie answers:
They are awesome with coconut

Maria asks…
Is the Russell Stover chocolate with peanut butter contaminated?
I just bought the assorted type and I was reading the ingredients and it said “peanut butter”. I bought a large quantity of it as I’m visiting relatives and was planning to give it out as gifts.
Is it contaminated or safe?
Thanks

Susie answers:
According to some websites, the only peanut butter products that you should be worried about are ones that contain pca peanut. But it is better not to eat any peanut butter (except if you eat organic, which is fine). Since salmonella has gotten into the peanut butter, it can survive for many months. Better off just giving them regular chocolate =]

Daniel asks…
In what places can I buy russell stover chocolates in a heart shaped box and a cute teddy bear?
What stores carry these things?

Susie answers:
CVS, Riteaid, Walgreens, Walmart, Target. Pretty much any store you can think of will have chocolate and teddy bears…its the most cliche valentines day present out there. You should have no trouble finding that stuff

Richard asks…
Would Russell Stover Chocolates be covered by food stamp cards?
I have a Bridge Card, and it pays for all food, but I didn’t know if chocolates would be under that. What do you think?

Susie answers:
Yeah it is

Michael asks…
I got some Russell Stover candy from a store and I got dinner in a hour, do I eat a piece of candy now?
It has 3 pieces of candy in the box.

Susie answers:
No one can answer that but you….
Enjoy……………

Ruth asks…
Where would be a good place to open a baker/candy supply store?
I’m looking at opening a baker/candy supply store. The store would sell supplies (cake pans, cake decorating items, etc.) for both the professional baker and also the amateur/home baker. Also it would sell candy making supplies. (chocolate, molds, etc.) Does anyone know of a good place to open this type of store? Thank you in advance.

Susie answers:
The best place are near to city towns where you can see many bakeries around, they will be your best customers buying your products, You will be the supplier as Wilton or AC moore, places where thoose companies does not exist you will be doing good.A good web site it also a very good help. When I buy this type of product I’ll buy it online most of them but if it’s something too urgent I’ll buy it on Wilton or AC moore and I have to drive around 50 Miles.

Linda asks…
Where can you buy candying making supplies in Arlington, Texas?
We were given lots of candy molds (lollipops, etc) for making chocolate candy suckers and such at home, but I don’t know where to find supplies to make them. We need to find a place that sells melting chocolate (in different colors would be nice and/or the colorings) for putting in the molds, the lollipop sticks, and anything else that would help, but I can’t find any place.
I know there are some online vendors, but I would like to find a local store that sells them.
I’ve looked in the phonebook, but they don’t list a category for “candy making supplies.”
Any help finding places in the Arlington, Texas area is appreciated.

Susie answers:
No Question about it, the best place is Ashers cookware on S. Cooper-they moved from Lincoln Square. They have everything you need and it is fresh and quality. Michaels is cheaper if you only want Wilton supplies and ready-made fondant, & they may have more coloring, but Ashers has the flavors. Both would have the sticks. I live in Arlington, Ashers is the place for everything you need, including the chocolate and flavorings. Michaels has cute clear bags to wrap up your candies. Good Luck!

Baking/Candy supplies in philadelphia?
I need to get baking/candy supplies because I am making food for the holidays. Does anyone know where I can get nice chocolate molds, marzipan, and cooking chocolate (like Valrhona or Callebaut)? Thank you and happy holidays!

Susie answers:
Merry christmas

Steven asks…
What supplies do I need to be a beginner-intermediate “Artisan Chocolatier”?
I love to design different truffles and little chocolate candies and was thinking of making some for the holidays and selling to locals from my neighborhood. I am looking for the best and cheapest places to look to buy new kitchen gadgets, chocolate, fruit flavorings, colors, bottles, etc. Along with cute 4 – 40 piece chocolate boxes and packages. Molds, foil wrappers, foil transfer sheets, decorating glitter, dust and candies, etc. I’m only guessing at what I need, but would love to hear from a professional “at home” chocolate artisan/maker about what would be essentials for making chocolates to tips on the making of chocolates. For ex., ways to cut down on messiness, easy tempering, making chocolate shiny without wax, holiday gift ideas or whatever you can offer.
The movie, “Chocolat” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, with Johnny Depp is my inspiration and hope to one day sell from my own little Chocolate Shop, but until then looking for original “homemade” assorted-artisan chocolates, truffles and complimentary candies/desserts.
Any help would be great!. Thanks a bunch! =)

Susie answers:
I wouldn’t start spending money until I knew there would be a market for it.
First step, if you are going to sell food product, which was made in your kitchen, you have to get permits to do so. Some states allow it with certain terms met, other states require a complete different building. Check with the authorities before selling anything.
I would use very few molds. To me hand formed chocolates are much more elegant. Mold the center into the shape you want it to be, refrigerate or freeze, then dip in melted chocolate. Learn to twist it different ways as you pull it up out of the chocolate so it will make unique designs on the top. Each different flavor of chocolate should have its own design.
Chocolate will be shiny if you do not over heat it. You should be able to put your hands in it comfortably.
I worked in a small commercial gourmet candy shop. The best way to dip chocolates is with your hands. You really do not need a bunch of fancy gadgets and tools….those hands will do the best job for you and they add that special personal touch to your chocolates which no one will be able to duplicate.
Use quality product, chocolate, nuts, sugar, real cream and flavorings with no artificial flavors.
