Venetica, Aion, divinity 2, pool of radiance, Drakensang, Darkfall online, Ultima online, and Saga, Last Remnant, and RF Online?

Susie answers:

Guild Wars.

Nuff said.

With number two coming out soon, I’ll see you again in 2-3 years. That game will eat you.
Note: Might be out already. Dare not look.

Ken asks…

Is Divinity 2 a good RPG game?

I’m looking forward to buy Divinity 2, and I just want to know if the inventory are many, and is the graphics and game play are good, I played Dragon Age for 12 hours and the inventory just don’t change, just a few modifications, like tier 5 and only 0.6 damage increases, so is Divinity an awesome game and is there a big difference in the inventory?

Susie answers:

Omg its amazing the graphics are great next gen and i love it never play another rpg again the story lines fun and u can turn into a dragon and fly anywhere u want its sooooo fun get it rly good but dont bother with divinity 1 is was not good but divinity 2 is the best :D

Daniel asks…

is the divinity 2 demo on xbox live for real?

so i downloaded it, and its fun, mega hard but fun. however it currently looks awful, are they still working on the graphics or is it more or less complete? i ask because the graphics make a big difference between me enjoying a game or getting sick of it, and if they are not changing i may have to give the game a miss.
thanks

Susie answers:

Divinity 2 looks very good

Mary asks…

I bought a labtop and the game Divinity 2 and i need to know if my labtop will run it or not.?

I recently bought this labtop http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220758 and Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga and i need to know if ill even be able to play this game or not.

Susie answers:

The game says it requires a 1.8 GHz core 2 duo. Yours is 1.3 BUT your graphics card and ram blow it out of the water. I’m sure that where the CPU slacks, the graphics card you have will fill in somewhat. You should be able to run the game but don’t quote me on saying you can run it on medium settings or above.

Linda asks…

xbox360 games, darksiders vs. divinity 2 or others? need a new game?

i like games like these, and games like l4d and l4d2, i love rpgs and action games. I want a game that will last a whileee, and these games r released today. they look pretty interesting, which do u think would b better? or should i get sumthn else?

Susie answers:

If you want a game to last awhile and if you like RPG’s these are my suggestions

1. Oblivion
2. Bioshock
3. Fallout 3

Those games got plenty to do in them I played Oblivion for months and I literally mean everyday for 3 months. It’s good

Your Questions About Chocolate Candy Coating

Mandy asks…

Does anyone have a recipe for a hard chocolate coating for a candy bar?

I made a Take5-like bar last night, but they didn’t turn out exactly as I’d hoped. The chocolate I used was semi sweet, a little egg, and evaporated milk, but this morning, after having them sit in the refrigerator overnight, the chocolate is still gooey. To solve this I would like to cut the bars and then dip them completely in chocolate that will get hard so I can mail them. Any recipes or other ideas? Thanks!

Susie answers:

I would think a simple high quality high cocoa content chocolate at least 70% cocoa solids would do it

David asks…

What is difference between bark candy coating and white chocolate?

Can you use them interchangeably? More specifically, can you use bark coating in fudge?

Susie answers:

White chocolate is basically powdered sugar, it doesn’t have the cocoa in it. I melt both and use to cover pretzles a xmas time. Cover with one and drizzle the other over the top

Robert asks…

why do recipes say to add parafin wax to a chocolate coating for candy?

Susie answers:

So it will set up better.

Daniel asks…

Cadbury Candy Coated Solid Chocolate Eggs?

OK. You know those little chocolate eggs with the candy coating? They’re made by Cadbury. Well, I’ve been thinking: How do they put the candy coating on the eggs? I mean, theres no flat spot where they might have sat on wax paper or anything. I’ve candy coated or chocolate coated things before, but there was always a flat side where i set them down to dry. But the Cadbury candy-coated eggs are perfect on every side. No flat parts. How do they do it?

Susie answers:

It’s fun question and a fun process!

First they make a chocolate ball, just by pouring them into little molds. Then they take the little balls and put them into big tumbling drums called panning machines.

They rotate rather like a cement mixer.

A confectioner pours sugar syrup onto the balls and slowly builds up a layer of sugar to make the candy shell.

Check out this online tour from Ferrara Pan for Lemonheads – the process is very similar.

James asks…

Chocolate Eggs with candy coating?

Who makes these eggs? I’ll describe the best I can. They are small chocolate eggs with different bright color candy coating. The candy coating is kind of “rough.” I really can’t think of much more. Please help! :) lol. What are the names of these eggs or who makes em?

Susie answers:

The ones I like are Cadbury; they’re dark chocolate, and the chocolate is smoother/richer than most other Easter chocolates. The eggs are small, a bit bigger than peanut M&M’s. The candy coating is a bit more textured than other candy coating chocolates, so this might indeed be it.

…searched a bit, they are called “Cadbury Mini Eggs”. Solid chocolate, not the Cadbury cream eggs that most people think of. I found a link with a bit more info: http://www.typetive.com/candyblog/item/cadbury_royal_dark_mini_eggs Sounds like a few varieties; I like the dark, myself.

Robert asks…

Do you prefer White Chocolate Dark Chocolate or Special Dark Chocolate Hershey candy bars?

If you don’t like Hersheys what is your favorite candy bar? And what is your favorite setting to enjoy them in (on your boat, on your girlfriend etc…)

Susie answers:

We don’t get Hershey’s in my country. I love dark chocolate the most!
My favorite brand is Italian and is called cuorenero. Here’s their homepage: http://www.cuorenero.it
It’s kind of funny because I didn’t think the Italians were very good at making chocolate. Pasta and Pizza for sure, but chocolate??!
I discovered it by chance when my husband brought some home from work one day. His boss had ordered 50pieces instead of five over the internet, so she was giving some of it away…
It’s heavenly!
I don’t have a special setting for enjoying it. I can enjoy it anytime, anywhere!!! :)

Your Questions About Local Candy

George asks…

At a local Chineese restaurant the have Mayo Shrimp. Tastes like candy somewhat. How is it made?

It has a sticky whity pasty covering. I think it has powered suger and mayonayese mixed together. I can not find a recipe anywhere. It is part of a buffet meal and is very sweet.

Susie answers:

Combine mayo with condensed milk or honey.

Richard asks…

How much should I sell candy and caramel apples for?

I’m doing a fundraiser for my school to help my local soup kitchen and I am selling homemade candy and caramel apples to sell during a movie. How much would a good price be to sell them for?

Susie answers:

At my local grocery store they are usually $2 and some odd cents each. I would charge $3 per apple since it’s going for a good cause. It’s a decent price that isn’t too high, or too low.

For the candies, it would depend on what kind and how much. I would reference to what your local grocery store sells them at, and then price slightly higher than that.

Good luck on the fundraising :)

Joseph asks…

what should i take to the Dominican for the local kids?

My wife and I are going in march and we want to take a suitcase full of stuff for some of the local kids for example toys and candy does any one have any suggestions?

Susie answers:

Baseball gloves & balls, frisbees, coloring books, crayons, dolls, toy cars, books, hand held games, rattles(for the babies of course!), barbie dolls, little stuffed animals, backpacks

The kids are always grateful for anything they get
:)

Charles asks…

I am visiting a local strip club on Valentine’s Day for a date, do strippers like flowers or candy better?

Susie answers:

Both. Go with both. Great ideas and extremely original too. Well done!

Betty asks…

Susie answers:

Yeah and they also do it at the police thing they have called Safety City.

Your Questions About Godiva Candy

Sharon asks…

How to package chocolate favors?

I am having a disagreement with my fiance on this. When my guests leave the reception, I want the caterers hand out small bags of Godiva chocolate as a thank you. This is not the main favor, so it doesn’t need to presented in any special way. I want to put about 10 loose pieces of assorted truffles, biscuits, and pralines into a plain cellophane bag and tie a ribbon on it in our wedding color.

My fiance thinks it will look stupid to put loose candies together in one bag without tissues around them or something to keep them separate. He would rather give out those gold Godiva favor boxes instead.

But they will be kept cool in the kitchen until they are handed out at the end of the night, so melting is not an issue. Also, I don’t like the assortment that comes in the favor boxes and there are not enough pieces. I want to have a mix of my favorite candies.

Any opinions or suggestions are appreciated!

Susie answers:

You can buy your own candy boxes and make your own assortment. Go to Hobby Lobby, Michaels Craft, Jo Ann Fabric and Crafts or any other store that has Wilton baking and candy supplies. You should be able to find candy boxes in a variety of sizes, as well as the little papers to put them in, if the chocolates don’t have them when you buy them.

I don’t know how far out your wedding is, but there is a bakery and candy supply catalog called Sweet Celebrations. Their outlet store was about 2 miles from my house when I lived in Minnesota. You can peruse the catalog on line, or ask them to mail you one. They have some stuff that you can buy on line, but their full catalog isn’t available to buy on line, just to look at. They will have a lot more options for box colors, sizes and paper candy wrapper sizes and styles. I gave out cookie cutter favors at my wedding, and I got them from their store.

George asks…

Asian people – need your help for the Lunar New Year…?

The Lunar New Year is approaching & I need to get my boyfriend’s parents something for the New Year, you know, like the traditional Asian sweets/candies/foods or whatever you usually give people during the New Year periods, however, my problem is that I live in Kansas and they live in California so whatever I’m going to give them, I have to be able to UPS them or unless there’s some website I can buy from & have them deliver. You guys probably all know that California has a much larger Asian population so whatever I get them here, they have about 10 better different choices out there, I still need to get them something, more like a courtesy thing I guess. So should I just buy a tray of those sweets or whatever at the Asian market & mail it to them or is there any better more thoughtful/respectable ideas? All else fail, I guess I can always get them like a Godiva chocolate basket or something, but you think it’s appropriate?
Oh, and I’m Asian myself, but I just grew up here in the States so I’m a little clueless about these types of things. My bf’s parents are both Asian though, and very traditional still. If that helps or make any difference.

Susie answers:

Hmm… Statue of a couple of old fisherman is good, as a symbol of prosperity (the fish). I used to call the statue grandpa & grandma fisherman. Lol.

I hardly need to give gifts away for Chinese New Year. But once I just did a very simple one for some family and friends, that is to buy lots of oranges, then get some red gift wraps and do some creative things wrapping the oranges. And finish the touches with some ornaments and little decorations. It’s simple, but it’s neat and special since you’d be doing the decorating yourself. And I’m sure it would be fine to be delivered to them.

Sorry I can’t help much. Good luck :) I hope you find a great present for them :)

Charles asks…

Poll #-whatever: If personalities were candies…??

What would you be??

I’d be a Godiva- Dark Chocolate Raspberry.

Susie answers:

Robert asks…

How do Chocolate Candy Companies ship their chocolates without them melting? ?

Companies such as Godiva….What type of recipe is used so that the outside of a truffle don’t melt and further more don’t melt during shipping????

I want to buy a gumball machine and 2 candy machines. I want to know what type of candy should I sell in the Candy machines. What will make the people buy the candy. Is it type of candy?

What type of gumballs should I sell also?

What type of candy would you most likely buy out of a gumball machine?

I worked in vending , and it really does matter which specific location.
Since you only have 1 , I would just go with the best colors.
The grape , orange and watermelons move well , but more as a second machine.

Laura asks…

How do you make a candy volcano out of clay plus, how to make the candy volcano erupt.?

I need to help my daughter with her science experiment. She is working with her two best friends Myelle and Julacia. For their science experiment they are doing a volcano. The volcano is going to have a candy eruption.Which means it will have candy coming out of the volcano.I need to know how to make a volcano(candy volcano) out of clay, and how to make a candy volcano erupt. Please answer quick because it is due Tuesday May 12th 2009.

Susie answers:

For the eruption, the traditional thing is a mixture of baking soda and vinegar – you have a plastic cup inside the volcano, full of baking soda. When you pour vinegar in the top, the baking soda foams and bubbles and “erupts”

You could try mixing candy in with the baking soda…I suggest you try it at home before your daughter takes it to school.

Good luck!

Lizzie asks…

When making candy how do you keep the candy from getting hard in the pan after cooking it?

I made some candy yesterday and it was in the softball stage and aftr a few minutes the candy in he pan got hard.

How do i keep it soft while taking it out of the pan.

I didn’t have any corn syrup in it . I just made it with sugar and water.
no I didn’t follow a recipe i just made it up and followed along.
I am making it again with butter and sugar and adding flavor and food coloring.

Remove it immediately when it gets to the soft stage. Also, you probably needed some corn syrup to help it come together.

4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
8 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
Your choice of flavoring (see below)

Heat chocolates, butter and milk in a pan until chocolates and butter are partially melted. Remove from heat and stir until completely melted. Whisk in desired flavoring until creamy-smooth.

Using a tablespoon (a spring-action 1 Tb. Scoop is ideal), mold chocolate into balls, 1 level Tb. At a time, and place on a cookie sheet lined with greased parchment paper.

Paul asks…

How do I make candy bars at home?

I LOVE candy that has milk chocolate, peanut butter, and nuts in them. Hersheys milk chocolate with almonds or peanuts, reeeses peanut butter cups, M&M’s, with almonds or peanuts…u get the picture. When it comes to those candies, I am addicted, and impulse control is hard and I don’t want to control it. But money does become an issue when I’m spending ten dollars a week strictly on chocolately, nutty candy. I’ll eat a candy bar as a snack or for dessert every day…that’s seven days a week. Since I don’t have that kind of money to spend on buying my favorite candy bars and I don’t want to deny myself of them, I figured it would be cheaper to make my own bars. But I have no clue how to start. All I can think of is put some almond slivers into an ice-tray and pour some hershey’s chocolate on them, and freeze them. But if I do that, how do I get the candy out in one peice w/or ruining the candy or the ice-tray? I just want to make candy bars for my own consumption. Please help. Thanks.

Susie answers:

No idea lol u can melt bakers chocolate and try to make it urself by testing out things

Your Questions About Hard Candy Molds

Laura asks…

yo gabba gabba candy molds?

I’ve been looking all over for yo gabba gabba chocolate or hard candy molds.
I saw them once and now i can’t find them again…. have you seen them?
I do not want premade candy and please DO NOT tell me to try looking here and there that is not what i’m asking for.

Susie answers:

Well, I hunted around the internet myself for you and came up with nothing. My only advice would be to periodically check a site like ebay where someone may want to resell theirs… Sorry I couldn’t help more :) Good luck in finding them.

Thomas asks…

Mardi Gras hard candy sucker mold?

I a looking for a Mardi Gras hard candy sucker or lollipop mold. I do not want the chocolate one. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Susie answers:

Have you checked www.wilton.com ? They have a large selection of unusual shapes of candy and cake molds.

Donna asks…

where can i purchase a baby feet hard candy mold?

please let me know, its for my sister in law baby shower

Susie answers:

I do not know where you live but we have Hooby Lobby here in Mississippi and I just saw one there the other day. If not, then anywhere with a crafts section like Walmart or even a party supply place should have them.

Paul asks…

How can I make sure the edges of my hard candy are rounded?

I use dental materials to make my own specific molds. I pour the hot candy liquid into the mold. After it has cooled and hardened, I pop the candy out. The cast is great, except that one side (the side from where I poured) has sharp edges. I can’t figure out how to make the edges rounded all the way around. Don’t like sharp-edged candy going into people’s mouths….

Susie answers:

If you have a mini-torch, use that to lightly go over the edges and melt them down a little bit to soften.

If no torch, then you could also use a spoon that you don’t really mine using, and stick the end in the burner of a gas stove (with gloves or a hot pad, of course). Then when it gets hot, run it over the sharp edges just to smooth them out.

Mark asks…

HELLO FRIENDS! I’m making hard candy pops and I have some questions:?

1-What is the best mold for hard candy pops?
2-Do I need to grease the molds so they won’t get stuck?
3-What kind of molds are easy for removal of the hard candy (silicone, metal or plastic)?
4-What is the best mold for the removal of the candy (single or pan with several molds together)
Thank you very much

Susie answers:

In your home page search bar or your google search bar type in how to use candy molds and browse thru the information also you use cooking spray on the molds to keep the candy from sticking

so you do not have to get her a gift in addition that is totally enough!
You should also buy her a bigger stocking!!!!
You are very kind, God bless you!

Susan asks…

the Russell Stover heart candy boxes had the brown wrappers and twice as much candy? wtf i’ve been jipped!

Susie answers:

At least you got a box of chocolate :(

Laura asks…

I have to fill a drawer with gourmet chocolate… suggestions?

My boyfriend decided that we should convert our silverware drawer to the purpose of storing a variety of dark chocolates.

I concur- I do have an awesome boyfriend.

I am providing the starter supply for Valentine’s day, and want to have a good variety of really good chocolate.

(So no Cadbury, Godiva, Dove, or Russell Stover please- I like them as much as anyone on a rainy day, but I want this to be really excellent stuff).

Luckily, I live in NYC, and can get almost anything. So any directives to obscure Luxembourg chocolatiers that you absolutely cannot live without (or those of other locales) would be very much appreciated. And happy Valentine’s Day:)

Susie answers:

Ick. All of the above suggestions are as bad as Russell Stover. To get the really good chocolate, you need to go to a place that makes it on-site. When I was in Belgium, they had little kiosks where you would walk up to a window and ask for the chocolate you wanted. It even had an expiration date of about 2 weeks. My very favorite was the candied orange peel dipped in dark chocolate (I am drooling remembering it). I also loved dark chocolate covered black walnuts, YUM!

Donald asks…

I think my valentines surprise is good what do you think?

This girl and I have hung out for a while and gone to a few dances. We talk about every day at school as we are both fifteen years old. She likes me a lot and her friends tell me that she wants to go out with me. Today I picked up some Russell Stover chocolates. I plan to surprise her after school on valentines day after track practice with a box of chocolates with a note inside the box. I don’t know exactly what the note is going to say but something like “There weren’t any chocholates as sweet as you, so I guess these will have to do. Be my valentine and go out with me?” Tell me if you like it, or suggest something else for the note that ends with me asking her out. Also should I hand write the letter in cursive or type it?
Thanks

Susie answers:

Awesome! If she likes you, I think it’ll be great! I would write it in cursive for sure! Girls (including me) like cursive more, it’s way more “romantic”. She’s gonna love it! I’m curious how it’ll turn out!

William asks…

Your Questions About Candy Gift Baskets For Valentines Day

Sandra asks…

Valentines Day gift for my fiance…?

My fiance and I have been together for 3 1/2 years and we NEVER make a big deal out of Valentines Day, but this year I was thinking about doing something special. I am going to make him his favorite dinner and I was thinking about making him a gift basket with a few things in it.
Boxers
Candies
Massage Oils
Picture of us
and a list of 10 things I love about him, but I am having trouble being creative with my list. Any suggestions on the list or on what else I can add to the basket?

Susie answers:

For the boxers, go to a store like Macy’s to the men’s dept. And find some that are for valentines day, with little hearts or kisses or cupids, etc. They’re cute, and only you will know he’s wearing them. For the chocolate, give him Hersey’s kisses, lol. Why not take the picture and put it in a little silver frame? Get one of those gag item coupon books, where each ticket says something like “FREE; a hug and a kiss”, or “you win a back rub and bubble bath”, etc. I don’t remember where i saw them, but try Spencer’s Gifts if there’s one near you. Oh, here’s a GOOD one! Buy some VERY SEXY cologne for men at a Victoria Secret. It’s named VERY SEXY for a reason. It really does smell sexy.

And since you are making him a basket, tell him you want to celebrate Valentine’s Day this time. Make up your mind in advance what you’d like and TELL him… Because guys don’t take hints… They don’t know what hints are. Personally, me and hubby always celebrate it… It’s a great day for romance no matter WHAT your age.

Daniel asks…

Valentine’s Day gift ideas for him?

I’m looking for some great gift ideas for my boyfriend. He will be twenty and I will be 17 when Valentine’s Day rolls around, and we’ve been dating for over a year. I love making homemade gifts, but I’m open to any ideas. I’ve already done a scrapbook, a coupon book, and last year I did a gift basket with candy, cookies, heart shaped brownies and rice krispie treats, boxers, scratch-off tickets, and other small things. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much :)

Donna asks…

Valentines Gift Help?

ok so im a teenager and was wondering what some good gifts would be to give my friends. I’ve seen some people give little gift bags or baskets of candy and stuff but for about half the school that be pretty pricey. are there any good gifts out there for teens to give each other on valentines day?

Susie answers:

Remember how funny it was to get the Spongebob valentine, or maybe a Simpsons one, or something…You could hand out valentines with a small candy attached. You could buy a couple bags of hershey’s miniatures, and put one or two with each one. Or just give everyone a couple of Hershey’s kisses or couple of sticks of gum… You could make your closest friends some homemade valentines with maybe some homemade cookies or a bigger candy bar. Hope this helps.

Robert asks…

Is this a good gift for valentines day?

so this is going to be my second valentines day with my boyfriend<3
and i was wondering if this gift sounds okay.

i saw these really cute red baskets that had hearts on them and i was gonna get one of those and put a small cute stuffed animal in it. he loves stuffed animals (dont laugh at that!)
then i was going to get a box on candy and a bag of m&ms because he loves them!

and then i was gonna try to write him a poem about how much he means to me.

what do you think?

thanks<3!
also that morning i planned on making him heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes with bacon or sausage

and i will be making him brownies in the shape of a heart and then writing a message on it with pink frosting <3

Susie answers:

That is a cute and sweet Idea.
It really shows how much you care for him..

Your Questions About Caramel Candy Wrappers

William asks…

How do you make caramel sauce?

I want to make a caramel drizzle using premade caramel cubes. They come in a clear plastic wrapper and are hard to chew and very sticky. Making caramel from scratch is not an option and I do not have a candy thermometer. How can I prepare the caramel cubes so that they will be soft and not as sticky at room temperature?

Susie answers:

Basic Caramel Sauce

½ c. White sugar

½ c. Brown sugar

½ c. Heavy cream

¼ c. Butter

In a smaller saucepan, combine all four ingredients and bring to a boil. Do not overcook. See tip above. Cook only to a softball stage and use a candy thermometer for best results. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Cool and serve with whipped cream on your favorite dessert or ice cream sundae

ENJOY,
MAR

Donna asks…

Is there a candy bar that hasnt been invented yet?

It seems that they have done it all, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, cocunut, cherries, caramel, nougat, nuts, honeycomb, biscuit, every time a new one comes out its just the same as one we already have but just with a different name and wrapper, its just so frustrating, all the ideas have already been thought up so what is left? Can somebody come up with a new idea for a candy bar that hasnt been done already? Now THAT would make life worth living!

Susie answers:

Chocolate covered gummy worms anyone?

Sharon asks…

What is the name of the candy with a bee on the wrapper?

im pretty sure it has caramel in it. With a yellow and red wrapper

Susie answers:

I think you’re looking for Bit-O-Honey.

Some of the old style Bit-O-Honey wrappers have a Bumble bee on them. Most of the newer, smaller candies have a small flower or else no design. Bit-O-Honey is a “hard and chewy candy with almond bits blended into a hard honey flavored taffy”

The other candy I know of that has a yellow and red wrapper with a bee on it is good ole Honey Hive crunch. I don’t know who sells it, but you can look at a picture of the wrapper at the link below.

Other sources for candy wrappers with bees would be personalized wrapper sites, such as http://www.whimsywraps.com/kids-birthday.asp and www.classiccandycovers.com

Mark asks…

Is HBC Governor’s Choice Chocolate Halal? (Quality English Chocolates)?

I don’t think it has it’s own name, but it’s from Governor’s Choice.. It’s a box of ‘Luxury Chocolate & Toffee Assortment’. The description is: Luxurious dark and milk chocolate has been delicately poured over a treasure trove of fruit flavors to create indulgent treats while traditional English toffees offer chewy interludes. Together this collection is sure to please any palate. And English as in from Europe – England or whatever. There’s 12 different types of chocolate in the box, listed at the back side as: noisette (green wrapper, half a circle-type thing), chocolate eclair (like a candy, gold wrapper covering actual circle candy part, but turns purple at the edges where it’s twisted), strawberry creme (again, just like a candy wrapper in strawberry-type wrapping), toffee stick (a long and skinny one, with a yellow-gold wrapper), milk chocolate fudge (large, circular, pink wrapper), caramel barrel (looks like half a barrel with gold wrapper), hazelnut in caramel (long oval, with purple wrapper), chocolate coated toffee (another long oval with an indigo-ish wrapper, with silver decorating lines on it), coconut truffle (looks just like the milk chocolate fudge but with a green wrapper, and is also large), butter toffee )light golden wrapper, looks just like another little candy wrapped), hazelnut swirl (like the night sky, dark blue wrapper with white.silver dots), orange creme (like the milk chocolate fudge and coconut truffle but with an orange wrapper).

I’m not sure if these are Halal or not. I used to eat them, without realizing the ingredients are questionable. They contain whey powder, which I’ve heard can be made of either milk, or may contain some animal fats. It also contains mono- and de- glycerides of fatty acids, but since vegetable fats (palm) are listed in the ingerdients, I believe the mono and de-glycerides are from plant material, although I’m not sure.
Help me out? With some concrete evidence please? Or maybe a phone number? Thanks.
By the way, I mean Halal as in okay to eat in Islam.
And if they’re okay to eat in Islam, it means there are no animal fats in them. There’s no ‘cor’ code or anything on the box, so I’m not sure.

Susie answers:

What does halala mean ?

Lizzie asks…

my dog just ate a caramello candy bar helpppp?

i went to take a shower and when i came into my room che ( my yorkie ) was laying on the bed licking his chops next to a wrapper.!!! its a candy bar with 4 squares of chocolate with caramel in the center. there were 3 squares left and i had left it on my table in the wrapper folded.. having not a thought that he may get it. he never does this. i can leave drinks there.. he wont go near them. but he ate 3 squares!!! is he going to be ok… i keep calling my vet i left an emergency call back. and ive called anyone i know who may know anything,..i had to leave messages, please help.. i know i f-d up big time… im sicked by my thoughtlessness….i dont need anyone going off on me. im asking how poisoness is this. what can happen./????? thanks for any help or if this has happened to your dog what happened. this is a friggen nightmare.

Susie answers:

It’s the Theobromine in the chocolate that is toxic.
Chocolate because toxic at about two ounces of milk chocolate per kilo of body weight. For a dog who weighs 20 kilos (44 pounds), that’s 40 ounces of chocolate. That’s a LOT of chocolate.

So, if your dog is pretty healthy and not too old, he will be ok. However, just call your emergency vet and tell them your dog’s vital statistics and how much he ate, they will tell you if you need to bring him in or not.

Also, Google for the symptoms of chocolate poisoning.

Your Questions About Sugar Free Candy Bars

Michael asks…

I need help with my diet!plz click on me!:)?

Im a 14 yr old girl who is about 5’9 i weigh around 145
So i desided to go on a diet
This is what i eat
today at breckfast i had some blueberries and a salad with cucumbers tomatoes and regular Dressing and then i had a sugar free candy bar
The at lunch i had some meat with chese and vegetables and a sugar free icecream bar
is that okey
And i take green tea with hoodia twice a day.
Am i doing okey?
and what should i eat for dinner and what time?

Susie answers:

Number one that doesn’t sound overweight to me. BUT I’ll answer this anyway ^_^
You need to make to include ALL of the food groups. Not necessarily low calorie, just smaller portions. I would suggest for breakfast, some high fiber low cal cereal, milk or juice and some fruit. Lunch you should try and include some veggies, fruit, maybe some whole grain bread, and proteins. Save the sugar free candy bars and ice cream bars. Eat a light snack after dinner, such as half a dark chocolate candy bar. Dinner can be really whenever, just make sure you are actually hungry and not anything past say 8pm. If you really want to lose the weight add some exercise in your routine somewhere. Even just light walking, crunches, pushups, etc. I could give you a complete workout if you wish. As for the green tea, you can take it. Just don’t rely completely on it, there isn’t anything in there to hurt you, so that seems to be alright. Hope this helps some!

George asks…

can you lose weight binging on sugar free and fat free foods?

I love to eat junky stuff. I will eat junk food as meals. I will then eat a regular meal because I feel as like i need to. I have begun working out. i have stayed with it so far. I just feel like i’m undoing the workout by eating the way I do. I even can go so far as to say i have no control once the thought comes into my head. Just so you under stand. I can eat a whole package of cookies, a whole bag of chips and dip, several candy bars throughout the course of a day and approx 2-3 meals and yes this is everyday. yes I am overweight, but it more like i’m big and solid and not sloppy and jiggly. I want to replace my junk with lighter junk until I can regain control of myself. Sometime I find i am eating sweets and simply forgot that I didn’t want to eat them. So my question is. Is eating large amounts of fat free and sugar free items better than eating the real thing? Oh! before I forget to say it. i tried to incoporate fruits and veggies in my diet and ened up with very loose stools, like I was allergic or something. please help or offera website or something. thanks

Susie answers:

I know it’s hard, but you need to eat natural foods that are good for the body, not processed. Try to stick with the fruits, veggies, and lean meats.

Richard asks…

I cut sugar out of my diet because of the “sugar addiction” theory – Has anyone else lost weight doing this?

I am 120 pounds over weight and started cutting the sugar out of my diet (meaning candy bars, ice cream, adding sugar to my meals and anything else).

I have been on only natural sugars such as fruit and honey and such. I have also been avoiding sugar free options such as equal and saccharin and diet sodas.

I have lost about 3 pounds in less than 2 weeks. Has anyone else experienced weight loss from only cutting sugar out of your diets? So far as the abstinent ideas, I do feel better with the sugar out of my diet, maybe even more alert.

Has anybody else experienced this? Let me know…

Susie answers:

About 2 years ago I went up to a size 7, not fat at all but for me it was a lot of weight since i’m normally a size 2 and have a really small frame.
What I did was cut out soda and junk food and all sugar like you did.
This helped me get to a size 5 but i had to add exercise like running, swimming and tennis everyday to get back in shape and to my normal size.
So cutting sugar out will definitely help but adding exercise will be even more effective.

David asks…

What to put in Care packages to Iraq for the soldiers. Millitary Members & others opions pls?

Is it silly to send recreational items like magazines, tennis balls, comic books, soduko puzzle books & disposable cameras? Do they need practical stuff more than recreational stuff?

Do they need sunscreen?

I have packages with protein bars, ramen noodles, bunches of slim jims & beef jerky, cough drops, normal & sugar free hard candy, lip balm ready to go; but want to send one more package.
Is it really a good idea to send chocolate? Won’t it melt?!?

OK, I get it, the guy soldiers want magazines with pretty scantily clad women. But, since they are in a muslim country, will these types of magazines cause cultural problems? If not, I guess I get to send hubby to the store to buy Maxim, For Him, etc a job I am sure he will just hate :) .

Susie answers:

—john s— you’re an idiot

Go to www.istillcarepackages.com

You can send a care package, write thank you letters, donate items, etc.

As far as specific items… Maxim, Stuff, and FHMs were always nice to get. You know, for the articles and what not.

Robert asks…

which one is correct?

Jelly Bellys

Jelly Belly’s

I’m pretty sure it isn’t Jelly Bellies, because the brand is just Jelly Belly.

This is the sentence I’m using it in: There were Jelly Bellys, candy corn, rock candy, candy bars of every sort, chocolates, caramels, an array of hard candies, lollipops, a galaxy of gummies, several types of licorice, chocolate-covered items, sour candies, marshmallow treats, a sugar free section, cotton candy, and various old-fashioned candies as well.

Susie answers:

Jelly Bellys is more than one

Jelly Belly’s is ownership.

BTW spell check says it is Jelly Belly’s

Your Questions About Halloween Candy

Carol asks…

What is your favorite Halloween candy and why?

I’m a total sugar junkie so I have to stay away from the candy for most of the year, but I let myself run wild come Halloween time. What’s your favorite? I love the Halloween classic, candy corn! I also love the mellocreme pumpkins. And my favorite candy period is Reese’s peanut butter cups, for Halloween they have Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins. Yum! What’s your favorite?

Susie answers:

I LOVE candy corn, I know some people hate it, but its like a traditional halloween candy, and my favorite. If you’re looking for your candy of choice, especially for halloweeen, definitely check out MetroCandy.com

http://www.metrocandy.com/Halloween-Candy?utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=pv&utm_content=zs&utm_campaign=halloween

Sandy asks…

What is the Halloween candy that comes in orange and black wrappers called?

Do they still make it?? I don’t remember seeing any this year… I had a Mary Jane candy tonight and it reminded me of those candies I’ve had around Halloween.. Thanks!
Yes Cathy those are the ones :-) Don’t worry you’re not alone wondering until next Halloween

Susie answers:

I think they were called Peanut butter kisses.
I haven’t seen them lately either.

Donna asks…

How long have you been buying Halloween candy and is there any left?

I am wondering if Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines Day are excuses to binge on chocolate such that most of the candy never gets to the people it was intended for.

I looked at the stores and candy is going cheap right now so not many people are doing this in my area but I have to wonder how many do?

What do you think?

Susie answers:

I started at the end of Sept., but, I bought stuff I don’t like, I call it kid candy. The heavy chocolate binge started last Saturday, we have gone through Almond Joys, Butterfingers, Toorsie Rolls and we’re now working on Hersheys Fun Size chocolate bars.

William asks…

Do you find yourself eating the Halloween candy before Halloween?

I try not to buy candy too far before Halloween because I find myself eating it all maybe exaggerating a little). When do you start buying your candy? Is there a special place you hide it so you wont eat it or anyone else?

Susie answers:

Ive never even thought of it, in my house when i was little if you even tried to get a piece of the halloween candy for the trick or treaters before halloween my mom would shoot you the death glare and you would have to go out and replace what you took, so now that im 18 and in college and buying my own halloween candy for the trick or treaters, it never even comes to my mind. When ever you get tempted, just remember that thats one less little kid who will get candy on halloween.

Helen asks…

What candy do you guys like to eat on halloween?

I’m about to be the halloween candy soon. Well my mom is. What do you gusy like to eat so we know what to buy for the other trick or treaters?

Susie answers:

Peanut m&ms rock my socks! Those little packets of like real fruit gummies are cool too if you wanna give out something healthy.

Your Questions About Valentine Candy Heart Sayings

Carol asks…

sex or candy ?

My bf and i have been together for 10 months, we’re 16. For Valentines Day i want to do something creative with those candy hearts that say cute sayings on them. i havent been able to think of anything. should i just resort to something else or can you help ?

Susie answers:

Make a poster out of them. And i would resort to something else personnally. I hate those candy hearts. Rent a movie and stay in. Make him dinner.

Jenny asks…

Guys, what would prefer as a Valentine’s day gift?

I’m torn between classic chocolates and “Bittersweets,” joke candy hearts for “most of us” on Valentine‘s Day that have sayings about being dumped, dejected or dysfunctional. The actual sayings on them aren’t *that* funny, but I think the idea is clever. They still come in a nice metal box. What would you guys prefer?

FYI He has a sense of humor, so I’m not worried about that… I just don’t know if I should go w/ fun or romantic. :) I haven’t been dating him that long (3 months), so I’m leaning toward the latter, but the hearts are pretty special…

Thanks!

Girls tend to overthink Valentines, sexual stuff is better for guys

The bittersweets are amusing, I’m a guy with a sense of humor, so I can vouch for that.

Guys, as romantic as they might be, are more worried about not screwing up valentines day themselves. If he knows you thought of him, he’ll be ecstatic.

Mandy asks…

Could I make any good business with this idea?

If I change the sayings on those heart shaped valentines candies?

BQ: Like
“Oh Yeah”
Get over here
Are ya old enough?
Etc.

Suggestions welcome
Actually Hussien, no I’m not but thanks for that sweet valentine thought

Excellent idea:

“your face or mine”

“buttsecks?”

“its not going to suck itself” (will that one fit?)

Why did I accept to make the candy? I have no clue but I want to impress them! Please help! Any advice, any recipes I would appreciate so much! Thank you all! And Merry Christmas!

Susie answers:

I have 2 different truffles recipes – here they are

Cookie Dough Truffles

1/2 cup butter, softened – 3/4 cup packed brown sugar – 2 cups all-purpose flour- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk- 1 tsp vanilla extract- 1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts – 1 1/2 pounds semisweet chocolate candy coating, chopped.

In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the flour, milk and vanilla; mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts. Shape into 1-in. Balls; place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Loosely cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until firm. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt candy coating, stirring often until smooth. Dip balls into coating; place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes. If desired, remelt remaining candy coating and drizzle over candies. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: 5 1/2 dozen

Caramel Truffles

26 caramels, 1 cup milk chocolate chips, 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 1/3 cups semisweet chocolate chips, 1 tbsp shortening

Line an 8-in square dish with plastic wrap and set aside. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramels, milk chocolate chips and cream. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 1 minute; stir. Microwave 1 minute longer, stirring every 15 seconds or until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth. Spread into prepared dish; refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm. Using plastic wrap, lift candy out of pan. Cut into 30 pieces; roll each piece into a 1-in ball. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix semi-sweet chips and shortening stir until smooth. Dip caramels in chocolate and place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm. Yield: 2 1/2 dozen Editor’s note: This recipe was tested with Hershey caramels in a 1,100-watt microwave.

Susan asks…

Looking for a Christmas Candy recipe, peanut butter cream cheese popcorn balls.?

For Christmas one year I tried peanut butter/cream cheese popcorn balls, and they were awesome! The popcorn balls had candy mixed in, such as M&M’s and were so terribly addictive that people were constantly hounding this poor guy at work so his wife would make them! She made them for us 2-3 times before x-mas came around and they were awesome, but I never got the recipe. The trick I am thinking is to make a glaze that holds the popcorn together. Does anyone have a clue on this one?

Susie answers:

I have a wonderful Peanut Butter Popcorn Ball recipe, but it doesn’t have cream cheese in it. After scouring the Internet for a recipe that DOES include cream cheese, I’ve nonetheless come up empty-handed.

I am perfectly happy to give you my Peanut Butter Popcorn Ball recipe (and yes, you are right about there being a sort of “glaze” that holds it all together), but I’m still ruminating on how in the world cream cheese would properly figure into a popcorn ball recipe. I actually do happen to have a recipe that combines cream cheese and peanut butter, but that is a recipe for Peanut Butter *Truffles.*

Anyway, I sure wish I had the recipe you remember, but here is the one I have:

PEANUT BUTTER POPCORN BALLS

5 cups freshly popped popcorn
1 cup dry roasted peanuts (I use the lightly salted)
1/2 cup M&M’s (or Reeses pieces)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup peanut butter (can use either chunky or smooth)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dash of salt
Butter

In a large, lightly buttered bowl, mix together popcorn, candies, and peanuts. Set aside.
In a large saucepan over medium heat, bring the sugar and corn syrup to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once it comes to a rolling boil, remove from heat and stir in peanut butter, salt and vanilla.
Quickly pour the hot mixture over the popcorn mixture and stir gently until all is well coated.
When cool enough to handle (just takes a few minutes), butter your hands (important!) and shape mixture into 2 1/2 inch balls. (Makes about 10.)
Let stand at room temperature until firm before wrapping individually in plastic wrap. (Like you said, these are highly addictive!)

Your Questions About Easter Candy

Sandy asks…

How long can I leave a Cadbury Creme Egg (chocolate easter candy) in the freezer without it going bad?

I don’t think they go bad. York peppermint patties don’t . Other chocolates do not. Let-her rip. If you get sick, you’ll know better next time.

Nancy asks…

Are the Easter/Spring candy-coated malt balls from Save-on-foods discontinued?

Every year I buy the candy-coated malt balls from Save-on-foods when they come out after Valentine’s Day. They have Easter colors, and they come in a round plastic tub like the rest of the Easter candy. I don’t know the brand, but if anyone knows it, please tell me! They didn’t come out this year and I fear that they have been discontinued. I can’t eat chocolate so this is my only option for a sugary snack. Please help!

Susie answers:

Perhaps they will have them when it gets closer to Easter.=)

Daniel asks…

Can solid easter candy be melted for making truffles, clusters, pretzels, etc.?

My daughter purchased the day after Easter several large solid bunnies reduced with hopes she could melt them and make clusters out of them and cover truffles, etc. She tried to use them to make flats and the flat chocolate never fully set up. Can she melt them down in a double boiler and use for truffles, choc. covered pretzels, clusters, etc? The candy is good candy not a cheaper brand. It’s Niagara Candy which is a large manufacturer right in our area.

Susie answers:

It will be fine, but using candy rather than chocolate chips or something is a waste of money…

Easter was, like, 6 months ago, wasn’t it? Why do you still have the chocolate? It’s probably stale by now…
